Kosshi is built with Apple frameworks. Its custom rendering engine is designed for responsive typing, row movement, and collapsing.

Data is stored locally on your device. Sync uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), where sync data is stored in your iCloud account. No separate Kosshi account is required.

The data structures and layout engine are designed for large outlines. Initial rendering, scrolling, editing, and search are tested with the goal of keeping outlines usable beyond 100,000 rows.

In detail
Outliner
Press Tab to indent a row and create a hierarchy. Collapse sections or drag rows to rearrange the outline.
What is an outliner →Zoom in
Zoom into a row to show only that row and its children. Use the breadcrumbs to move up or return home.
Everything in one outline →Markdown
Bold text, links, checkboxes, and other formatting appear inline. Markdown markers are visible only while editing.
Why Markdown →Images & files
Paste or drag images into a row, then resize them inline. PDFs and videos also appear as inline previews.
Search
Press Cmd+F to search the outline and highlight matches. You can also replace text.

Dark mode
Switch between light and dark themes. Automatically follows your system setting.
Tags
Use #tags to categorize and @tags for dates or status. Filter from the sidebar.
Bookmarks
Press Cmd+D to bookmark a row. Bookmarks appear at the top of the sidebar.
Reminders & Calendar
Any @tag with a date syncs to Apple Reminders or Calendar. Use @todo(3/15), @meeting(every monday 10:00), and so on.
Export
Export as Markdown, OPML, or plain text.
Auto backup
Restore an earlier outline from an automatic backup. Delete backups you no longer need.
