This guide is for 1.21 Beta. The released version is 1.20.

Date Input

Choose the date formats Kosshi recognizes when you enter dated @tags.

Set the date formats

Open Settings > Editing > Date Input and choose the options you need.

SettingDescription
Date Input OrderThe order for dates with a year: Month / Day / Year, Day / Month / Year, Year / Month / Day, or Year / Day / Month
Yearless Date Input OrderThe order for dates without a year: Month / Day or Day / Month
Recognize dot-separated values as datesAlso treat values such as 31.12.2027 as dates

Kosshi chooses regional defaults separately for dates with and without a year. You can change the two orders independently.

ISO dates use hyphens, such as 2027-03-15, and always work regardless of these settings.

Dates in text

Dates written as YYYY-MM-DD in text, such as 2026-10-15, are recognized without an @tag. They appear in the Dates section of the sidebar and match date: searches.

Only the ISO format is recognized in text. To turn this off, turn off Recognize Dates in Text in the same settings.

Yearless dates

A yearless date is treated as a date in the current year. When the yearless order is MM/DD, @tag(9/12) means September 12; with DD/MM, it means December 9.

When the year changes, the same @tag(9/12) is interpreted as a date in the new year. Include the year when you need to keep a date from the previous year or manage a date tied to a specific year over the long term.

Changing the setting can change how existing yearless dates are interpreted. After changing it, check dated plans and reminder due dates.

See Search Reference for date search syntax and ranges.
