Manual Backup

You can create a full backup of your outline that includes images and file attachments. This is available on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

Auto backups are created automatically, but they contain only text data. Manual backup saves everything into a single ZIP file.

Export or import a full backup from Import & Export settings.

What's Included

  • All outline rows (text, structure, metadata)
  • Images and file attachments

How to Export

On Mac:

  1. Open the File menu in the menu bar
  2. Choose Export Backup...
  3. Choose a location to save the file

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Data > Import & Export and choose Export Backup....

The file is saved as KosshiBackup-YYYY-MM-DD.zip.

How to Restore

  1. On Mac, choose File > Open Backup…. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Data > Import & Export and choose Open Backup…
  2. Select the ZIP file. The backup contents open in a preview
  3. Open the restore menu in the preview and choose one of the following:
    • Add Selection to Outline: adds the rows selected in the preview to the current outline
    • Add Entire Backup to Outline: adds the whole backup as a new section without replacing existing data
    • Replace All with This Backup…: replaces the current outline with the backup contents
