Split View

On Mac and iPad, you can split the editor to keep one row open for reference while you edit in another pane.

Open a Split

Right-click a row, open Open, and choose Open Beside or Open Below. The row opens in a new pane next to or below the current one.

You can also right-click a row in the sidebar and choose the same commands.

Each pane keeps its own zoom position. Edits in either pane stay in sync because both show the same outline.

Adjust the Layout

Open Find Action with Cmd+Shift+A to manage the split:

  • Toggle Split Direction — switch between side-by-side and stacked panes
  • Even Panes — give each pane the same amount of space
  • Close Pane — close the active pane

You can also drag the divider between panes to resize them.

Move Between Panes

Press Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+Shift+Tab to move keyboard focus between editor panes. These shortcuts cycle through open panes only; they do not include the sidebar.

To jump directly to a specific area, press Cmd+1 through Cmd+9:

  • Cmd+1 — sidebar
  • Cmd+2 — first editor pane
  • Cmd+3–Cmd+9 — additional panes, ordered left to right and top to bottom

When you switch to a pane that is not being edited, Kosshi places the caret on the active row or the first visible row.

See Keyboard Shortcuts for the full list.
